PRESTON PARISH COUNCIL 

MISMANAGEMENT

This blog is meant to highlight misgivings that some residents share on the Parish Council's management of our village. Although there are inevitably many critical comments relating to the actions of the council we do not wish to enter into a 'Council bashing exercise' as that would not be helpful to our aim, which is to improve the governance of our Village. Views from any residents of Preston are welcome.

Things this Blog will be considering;

1. General performance of the Parish Council and councillors.
2. Role of the Parish Clerk.
3. Legal compliance by the Council and unlawful council meetings.
4. Measures in place to ensure the smooth running and good management of the Parish.
5. Representation of residents by councillors and the council’s historical record of including residents into the local democratic process.
6. Management of Council Charities by councillors and the participation of residents.
7. Freedom of Information, the councils role and response.
8. Council care when managing public funds.
9. Council dishonesty to residents and official bodies.

As residents we do not have access to the internal workings of the council and if the council is unwilling to engage with residents we are left with the sole option of interpreting what we see and hear and asking questions of the council from that position.

There will be times when the council considers our conclusions and assumptions to be unjust and unfair, this responsibility rests firmly on the shoulders of the Parish Council by not engaging with residents and the council’s refusal to give appropriate information.

Our aim is to spend 2013 highlighting mismanagement of the Parish by the Parish Council whilst at the same time giving the Council the opportunity to discuss issues that are raised and resolving those issues to the mutual benefit of all concerned.

In 2014 we shall consider recruiting suitable candidates to stand in opposition to current Parish Councillors and inject new blood into the democratic process at the local elections in 2015.

ALL RESIDENTS OF PRESTON SHOULD BE INTERESTED IN HOW THE PARISH COUNCIL OPERATES AND SPENDS PUBLIC MONEY THAT HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM HARD WORKING FAMILIES WITHIN THE PARISH.
